Would you like to know more about our International Department?
What do we do?
The AStA International Department has an important task to make the life of international students as smooth and enjoyable as possible. This includes but is not limited to:
- Any concerns or questions regarding the Ausländerbehörde (Foreign Office)
- Any questions regarding your health insurance
- Any form of discrimination
- Anything about your new life in Germany as an international student
- Anything else you feel you may need: that’s why AStA is here!
Whether you are a prospective or current student, if you are facing any issues regarding your life in Germany, we are there for you!
We not only strive to always cater to the needs of international students, but also try to further the awareness of the rich and varied cultures of our student body. For that, we organize many cultural events over the course of the semester, so please do not hesitate to contact us with ideas of any such events or if you would like to volunteer at one of these.
The constant internationalization of our university is also one of our most cherished tasks, especially since our university proudly consists of the highest percentage of international students in the country, and we are always looking for more ways to make the university as inclusive as possible for ALL people.
We hope to be there for you in any and all issues you may have as an international student and are happy to be there for you at any time via email or during our office hours.
Hey there, I am David Stich. I am from Düsseldorf, Germany and I´m a 6th Semester student for Environment and Energy in Kamp-Lintfort. After around 2 years working as a volunteer at International AStA and helping out from time to time in other departments, I am honored to be the head of International AStA of campus Kamp-Lintfort. I have been part of this University for a very long time, since I already did a Computer Sciences study program in Kamp-Lintfort as well. Therefore, I thought it was finally time for me to give back to the students of this amazing University. I have made a lot of experience with International students and their obstacles over the course of my study life, and I would love to share my knowledge as well as my point of view on problems as a local. If you have questions regarding any problems, always feel free to contact me!
My name is Basil Hammoudeh. I am currently studying Bioengineering in my 6th semester and I am the head of the International Department for campus Kleve. The struggles of the international student are an ever-going issue and being tasked with addressing such concerns and issues that may arise is a huge honor and something I highly value.
As your AStA, we hope to give our students the feeling of always being able to reach us and come to us to represent you regarding all issues faced and prove that you are never alone with any problem. As for the international department specifically, those problems faced by our international students. I am happy to be representing this university as well as our student body and am proud to be a part of the constant moving train that is the internationalization of our university, and am looking forward to any feedback and ideas you all may have.
